Your CLA Licence fees make an important contribution to support content creators and the creative industries.
- Publishers, authors and artists create and publish content; publications that are covered under the CLA Education Licences
- By purchasing the CLA Education Licence, schools and colleges benefit from getting permission to copy without the need to seek permission from the copyright owner direct, and are protected from the risk of copyright infringement
- Data Collection exercises that are conducted by CLA sample copying at schools and colleges. The data collected here is used to calculate royalty payments to the creators for the reuse of their work
- CLA return this data and licence fees (minus CLA's operating costs) to organisations that represent publishers, authors and artists
- Royalty payments are paid annually to authors, publishers and artists, who can then go on to produce more material
This text is intended for use as guidance only and not as a substitute for the CLA Licence terms themselves, which should be read in full. In the event of conflict between the two, the Licence shall prevail. For permissions not listed above, please contact the publisher direct.
